Live Like That

Are you a prism where God can shine through? Do you smile at how your life is great (even though you are suffering) just because you are letting Him use you? Or are you an opaque person who wanders around wondering what is missing from your life? Or are you neither?

(What? What does she mean "neither?" There's a third option?)

Yes there is. I mean: do you know Who you need and what you need to do to get Him, but are afraid? You could be afraid of giving up control, what others will think, rejection, being a disappointment to Him, or something else.

Figure out what is holding you back.

"Do not be afraid to welcome Christ." It is put so simply. It almost seems that they do not know the struggles of letting go. These words are stated so clearly "do not be afraid." Why does the author say it like it is one of the easiest things to do?

Because it is.

It is not the act of not being afraid that is so hard. (It would be amazing to never fear). Rather, it is the process of letting go of control. Once we surrender, we are no longer in control. We are afraid to not fear. Similar to what I had mentioned in the post "Breathe" we feel that fear gives us some kind of protection and control.

(If this does not make sense, comment below and I will try to answer your questions as best as I can).

Do you live in a way that others can witness Christ through you? Do you allow Him to enter into your heart, make it his home, and share His love with others by the way you live? Do you want to be a tabernacle for the greatest Being that ever was, is, and will be? He is giving you this opportunity. He is holding out His hand, waiting for you to give Him a brave surrender...

Fortem Deditionem

J. N. Cloutier

It was not your usual story.
In fact, no others could compare
Because of the uniqueness of the encounter
And the gifts that each one beared.

She, she was the spark,
The energy, the flame.
Vibrant in her beauty,
Her words, her ways.

Better to love than not at all
Was something she was trying to learn.
And so she lived to give,
But for that she had to burn.

He, he was the ocean:
Inspiring, mighty, serene,
Steadfast in virtue,
He was Elysium* and welcoming.

He strove to be the best
Person that he could be
That he was an immense blessing already
Was something he tried to see.

One day, the Spark was quiet,
While she stood by the water's edge.
She saw the greatness of the Ocean
And it took away her breath.

The two stared for a while,
Then slowly the tide went in.
The Spark retreated, shivering
Warming her skin from the chilling wind.

Would she see him again?
She turned, filled with sorrow.
Then, she glowed once more
With the promise of tomorrow.

He watched her go, thinking
"What I would do for another second with her...
She is refreshing, but energetic.
A curious thing," he concurred.

That night, she lay awake,
Pondering the visit.
His strength, wisdom, and peace...
Oh, how she would miss it!

Jubilantly, she awoke.
Brighter than before.
Happily, she jumped out of bed
And headed out the door.

"She's coming," was his thought,
As he watched her draw near.
Both felt the same:
Excitement and fear.

Hope was in her smile,
A sparkle lit up her eyes.
Then, the light dimmed
Because of what she realized.

Her spark, her heat, her fire
It would all disappear
If she satisfied her desire
Of drawing near.

Suddenly, she remembered what she'd learned.
She mused, "I finally understand."
The Ocean met the Spark
When she reached out to grasp his hand.

*Elysium: any place or condition of bliss or happiness, paradise.
